Jubilee writing 31.10.14

Oaklands School had their 50th Jubilee on Labour weekend this year. I am in Year 7. In 50 years time when they have their 100th Jubilee I will be 62. In 50 years time I think these changes would have happened to Oaklands School... I think the classrooms will be bigger and that there will be more of them. There will be less grass, court space and playgrounds. I think there will be more people in the classrooms but still only one teacher. I think that there will be no uniform and just mufti and all the routines will be different. I think there will be less subjects and less learning. I think the biggest impact or change to Oaklands School will be the technology. There will be so much of it in every classroom.

In 50 years I hope my predictions are right.

speech - TV programmes

W.A.L.T: write a persuasive argument

Dear TV producer

This complaint is about TV programmes and ads that have crime and things that are bad for kids when they are still quiet young.

TV is something nearly everyone comes home to everyday. It is something people get all the latest news on and come home and relax with, so do kids. We don't want our kids to have nightmares or get scarred by something on the TV.

These ads and programmes can freak people out. Would you like a 5 year old to see even a TV ad about the mentalist or CSI programmes. Children can grow up to do the things they see. A teenager killed his brother who was 10 years old at the time. He was inspired by the TV series dexter. They might not even want to go outside if they watch too much of it.

Your kids normally have afternoon activates and get home later and just want to rest without being completely freaked out  by an ad on TV. Kids that are 12-13 years old even older , can still get freaked out. The average time for kids to go to bed is around 9:00 - 9:30. I know that there lots of rumors that go around and that will also not help with being freaked out by the TV.

so overall I think that all the TV programmes and ads that have crime and killing in them should be on after 10:00pm because people can grow up to be inspired by bad TV programmes and lots of kids can get nightmares because of the TV. This could stop some deaths and people getting hurt if the programmes with killing and crime are on later at night.

The solo level I have reached for my speech is relational because I didn't do a good side and a bad side.

The solo level I have reached for my surface features is relational because  I didn't use to many commas or speech marks.

My next step is to do a good side and a bad side to my speech.

Narrative writing

W.A.L.T: write a narrative with a modern day moral

I'm so nervous Kyle announced to her mum as she got out of the car. Kyle heard her name beeing called out over the loud speaker. She went and got into her position. Her opposite partner was her worst enemy Beanka but Kyle showed her up.
After the trials Kyle looked on the website she was still really nervous. She got in the A team Kyle was so glad. She looked down the list and found Beanka's name on the same list as hers.
Kyle went to every single training but one when she was on holiday with her family. At the pre season tournament Kyle got very little game time, nearly every other person got a whole game or three whole games. Kyle felt very disappointed in herself.
One training a couple of games later her coach Ella said to her that she would only be playing half games for the rest of the season. Kyle felt sad she felt like throwing a tantrum. Lucky for her her mum was there and she was not happy about that, so she told Ella about it not being fair because the team goal to get first or second was not a fair team goal if not everyone was not getting fair game time.

At the next game Beanka hurt herself quiet badly nearly broke her hand. Kyle thought that she might get some more game time.
At training on Thursday night Ella decided to change the team goal to top 4 because Beanka was out for a while.
For the first time on Saturday Kyle got a full game!, she was so happy she was excited to actually get a whole game. " you looked like a star out there Kyle " said Ella. The next week Ella gave Kyle a half game. Kyle felt like just running away and never ever seeing Ella or Beanka ever again.
After playing a half game and feeling so disappointed. She decided to talk to Ella and tell her that she wasn't happy. Kyle told her she didn't feel like she was being treated properly. Kyle moaned on and on about it. Then Ella finally realised that it wasn't fair and that she needs to treat everyone the same way.

The next week Kyle showed up with her game face on and she played a full game with pride.they won and Kyle got player of the day.

                                                                The  end

The SOLO level I have reached for surface features is ... relational because I didn't use much commas  or speech marks .

The SOLO level for narrative is Extended Abstract because I had paragraphs in all the right places and my moral is a modern day moral.

My next step is to use more commas and speech marks.

In this we had to read the text 13 year old Indian girl becomes the youngest female to conquer the Everest! Answer some questions about the text and then the describe map.
My next step is to identify structural features or characteristics of the text.

In maths I have been learning measurement by converting meters, centimetres, millimetre and kilometre.
Here is my evidence

20mm=2cm  2cm=20mm
2m=200cm 200cm=2m
2000m=2km 2km=2000m

My next step is to start learning how to convert tons

In writing I have been learning how write a explanation my evidence is my blog on my blog if you would like to see it you can scroll down a little on my blog.

My next step is to get better at my spelling

Explantion wirting

WALT: write an explantion

Ergobaby

Would you trust a well known company?
Ergobaby is just one of the many companies that has been effected by somebody else making a fake baby carrier and braeking the Consumer Guarentees Act.
What is the Consumer Guarentees Act?.
It is something that is there to protect Consumers and Business from buying faulty products. We have it there so when somebody dose sell you a faulty product you can get it replaced, fixed or get your money back.
I will explain one fake company that has been breaking the Consumers Guarenntees Act and what effects it has on the Consumers and Business.

A Consumer bought a Ergobaby baby carrier and soon found out it was a fake. Because the belt breaks when some pressure is put on it. The Act that has been broken is that the product must be of an acceptable quality. It was broken because the buckle was not safe. The effect on the Consumer is that the baby could fall out and get hurt or even die.

Fit for purpose is another one of the guarentees that was also broken because you can't put your baby in because it can't take much weight and you have no clue when it might fall out so you can't catch it. The effect on the real Business is that they would be loseing a lot of money.

There is another Consumers Guarentees Act that has been broken. It is that the Consumer that has the right to redress the products. You can't redress the baby carrier because it is a fake company. The effect on the Consumer is that they have wasted there money and she will have to buy another one from a real company. Then she will have to saerch online.

The last Consumer Guarentees Act that I am going to talk about is that Consumers are not allowed to be tricked or lied to. It was broken because it was not safe. The effect on the real business is that less people will buy from them because they don't know what company is real or fake.

After all the real company gave the Consumer a real baby carrier that was not faulty.

My next step is to add more information

Sunny Adelaide

                                                             Sunny Adelaide
What could be better... we were in sunny Adelaide on the beautifully brown Murry river. It was afternoon weather. Hot and stuffy more like noisy cockatoos were floating on the rocky cliffs barking there heads off. I had this feeling my stomach started to turn like a toilet being flushed. Sweet trembled down my face as I walked to the end of the houseboat. I was getting ready for frightening flip of the boat. Mum had my Ipod and pressed record. As I turned back the houseboat looked so big like a monster watching over me. I turned back to face the yucky brown water. As I leaped of with a little run up I was soon in the refreshing cold brown water. It was so uncomfortable it was like my life jacket had wet wood shoved into it. I stayed in the murky water until my parents very bravely wanted to get into the jacuzzi as it was 42 degrees outside. As I walked up the steps I melted like a piece of ice being put into a hot chocolate. I walked to the jacuzzi I put my leg in slowly and took it out very quickly. Now I can see why there was nobody in it, the jacuzzi was on 40 degrees. So I went back into the murky brown river water.

My next step: is to keep elaborating my ideas

Making Choices
Decisions- We all have to make them but sometimes they aren't to easy.Things that influence our choices can be very close to you and some can just be the t.v, like family, friends, role models and Media.
Family has one of the biggest impacts on our decisions.
Our family can be a big influence on decisions like if you have any siblings they might have something on like sort or dance that you have to go to when you to do your own things. Or they might have rules or don't want to do somethings that you may ask them to do.
Friends can clash with family time too.
They might smoke or want to go to the mall all of a sudden when you know you shouldn't and that's a bad influence.
Role models can stop you smoking and doing bad things if they are a good Role model.
because you look up to them and you want to be like them and they make good choices or decisions.
You can see and hear people who are Role models all around the world by Media.
If you hear see or talk about something people want that even if it doesn't sound to good. People like to be the best out of everybody or want to fit in and it doesn't help being influenced to by something of the the t.v that's probably not that good.
So when you make a very hard decision you should think twice about all the influence's  and be sure to make the right one.

My next step for writing is continue to join my sentences.

WALT: Identify several visual and verbal features in advertisements; and explain the impact they have on the overall message.I can explain what would happen if another part was added or taken away.

The add is for lams cat food                                                                                                                 The targeted audience: Cat lovers or people who has cats
It provides: that the cat loves the food because it's tail is in a love heart that it is eating lams food
I like this add because I am a animal lover
My next step is to meet my extended abstract by finishing and identify as many visual and verbal features that you can.

Joining paragraphs

WALT: use linking sentences to join our paragraphs

Here is an example of two paragraphs that I have linked together with linking sentences. This is from my information report - Making Choices.

"Decisions - We all have to make them but sometimes they aren't too easy. Things that influence our choices can be close to you and some can just be the TV, like family, friends, role models, and media.

Family has one of the biggest impacts on our decisions."

As you can see I joined these paragraphs by relating it to the end of the first paragraph (both mention the word family).

My next learning step is: to try and use across all learning.
